Lok Sabha Election 2024: Voting to start from April 19; results on June 4
Lok Sabha Election 2024: Voting for the General elections 2024 will be done in seven phases, stating from April 19. Results for Lok Sabha elections will be announced on June 4. With this announcement, the model code of conduct comes into immediate effect.

96.8 crore eligible voters
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar on Saturday announced that 96.8 crore voters will be eligible to vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Rajiv Kumar, speaking at a press conference to announce the dates of Lok Sabha and assembly elections in four states, said there will be 10.5 lakh polling stations and 1.5 crore polling officials and security personnel deployed to conduct the elections in the world's largest democracy.
"We are committed to providing the nation with a truly festive and democratic environment. The term of the 17th Lok Sabha will expire on June 16, 2024. The terms of the Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim are also set to expire in June 2024. Elections are scheduled in Jammu and Kashmir," he stated.
1.8 crore first-time voters
"We have 1.8 crore first-time voters and 19.47 crore voters between the ages of 20 and 29," the CEC said, adding that 88.4 lakh voters are from the PWD category, 2.18 lakh are centenarians, and 48,000 are transgender. Kumar stated that approximately 49.7 crore voters are male and 47.1 crore voters are female.
Meanwhile, political parties have started announcing their candidates for the general elections. So far, the BJP has announced the candidature of 267 candidates with two lists. Congress on the other hand announced the names of 82 candidates over two lists.
