Lohri 2023 traditional food: Lohri is one of the major festivals of Punjabis. People celebrate this day with great pomp. They enjoy bonfire with family, friends and relatives. 

But the festival is incomplete without some appetising, special traditional food like gur ki gajak', 'atta laddoo', 'murmura laddoo', 'til ki barfi', dry fruit chikki, 'gur ka halwa', 'til ki revdi' and other such mouth watering-foods.

Here’s the list of 5 mandatory special dishes for Lohri 2023: 

Sarso Ka Saag & Makki Ki Roti: The mandatory combination Sarso Da Saag and Makki Di Roti is very must in Lohri thali. Prepared with fresh ground corn, enlivened up with grated radish, radish leaves, coriander leaves, chopped green chilies and not to forget, lots of white butter, the aromatic dish is a not-to-miss food.


Gajar ka halwa: One of the most delicious deserts for winter season is ‘Gajar Ka Halwa.’ Prepared from red carrots and milk, enriched with a lot of ghee and butter, grated with khoya, chopped nuts and almonds – this mouth watering dish is the mandatory one for Lohri festival. 


Pinnis : It is fantastic and mom-made. What it is? 

The roasted sweet is made with wheat flour and chopped almonds laced with pure ghee and edible gum (commonly prepared with melted jaggery), loaded with cashews, almonds and raisins, these pinnis are a never-miss item on your platter.

Crispy Pakode 

Severed as starters, made of different vegetables such as Onion, potato, cauliflower, chilly florets are spiced and dipped into gram flour batter, and fried till they turn crispy golden brown and served with chutney or ketchup, Pakodes are one of the mandatory starter for Lohri 2023.

Dahi Bhalle: The soft yet crisp dumplings made with Urad daal, dunked into sour yogurt are served with roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, and a special ingredient, pomegranate seeds.
