Ladakh: 12 injured after three-storey building atop a hill's slope collapses in Kargil

Ladakh: In a dreadful turn of events, 12 injured after a three-storey building atop a hill's slope collapsed In Ladakh's Kargil district. 

The incident unfolded in Kargil at around 3:30 am at Kabaddi Nallah 

Among those injured, five individuals, including the earthmover’s driver, were rescued from the debris and have been hospitalised. Their condition is reported to be stable. 

Meanwhile, authorities initiated a magisterial inquiry into the collapse, which occurred around 3:30 am at Kabaddi Nallah.


Officials also reported that rescue operations began promptly after news of the building collapse was received. 

Police, army personnel, and local volunteers were all engaged in the effort. Most of the injured were tenants, and rescuers spent approximately three hours clearing debris to free the driver of the earthmover from the severely damaged machine cabin.

Additionally, the administration will form a committee to assess structures in "vulnerable areas" of the district, inspect for any breaches of building regulations, and identify those at fault
