Ladakh expands administrative reach with five new districts: Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang
"The Modi government is committed to creating abundant opportunities for people of Ladakh," Mr Shah said.
PTC News Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared today that the Union Ministry of Ladakh has established five new districts. Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang are the new districts.
"The Modi government is committed to creating abundant opportunities for the people of Ladakh," stated Shah. "The new districts, namely Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra and Changthang, will take the benefits meant for the people to their doorsteps by bolstering governance in every nook and cranny."
After the Centre withdrew Article 370, which granted the former state of Jammu and Kashmir special status and divided it into two UTs in 2019, Ladakh was granted Union Territory status. Ladakh is a UT, hence the Home Ministry has direct administrative authority over it.
