Kolkata doctor murder: Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh on Wednesday criticised the doctors protesting against the r@pe and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, asking what they would think if soldiers on the border began protesting the Pulwama attack.
Kunal Ghosh urged doctors to stop their protest. He stated that in the Pulwama attack, in which 40 CRPF soldiers were killed in 2019, soldiers did not receive justice.
"I have a question," he posted on X in Bengali. "There was no justice in the Pulwama case. How would they react if jawans leavethe border and started a 'we want justice' protest?" he said.
The Trinamool Congress government is under pressure from the opposition for the brutal r@pe and murder, with the BJP demanding Mamata Banerjee's resignation as West Bengal's chief minister.
Thousands of doctors around the country are protesting the crime at the state-run hospital.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court told the protesting doctors that their demands will be considered. It urged them to end their protests and return to work. The court also directed the West Bengal government not to use force to quell the agitation.
The woman had gone to the hospital's seminar hall for a break during her 36-hour shift. She was found dead the following morning.
Police have arrested a civic volunteer for rape and murder. The CBI has also grilled Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the principal of RG Kar College. The investigation is currently underway in the case.
