Kolkata doctor murder: Sanjoy Roy, the main accused in the r@pe and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, became emotional in front of a judge on Friday, stating that he was innocent.

CBI had brought Sanjoy Roy before a Kolkata court and sought permission for a polygraph test on the accused and suspects in the case. The lie-detecting test can only be undertaken with the approval of both the court and the suspect.

According to The Times of India, Sanjoy Roy broke down when the judge enquired why he agreed to the polygraph test.

He informed the court he agreed to the test because he believed he was innocent. "I have not done a crime. I am being framed. Maybe this test will confirm it," the newspaper cited Sanjoy Roy as saying.

The court then approved the polygraph test of Sanjoy Roy. It also sentenced him to 14 days of judicial custody.

The court also granted permission for a polygraph test on Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and five others involved in the case. These five people include four doctors who dined with the deceased doctor on the night of the incident, as well as Roy.

On August 9, the trainee doctor was r@ped and murdered in a seminar hall at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The crime occurred late at night in the chest department's third-floor seminar hall, and investigators found numerous lacerations and wounds on her body.
