Kanjhawala case: Delhi woman was with friend at time of accident, she fled

New Delhi, January 3: In a significant development in the Kanjhawala road accident case, the Delhi Police found that Anjali (20) was not alone on the scooty when the incident occurred. When the scooty was hit by the car, she was accompanied by another girl.

"When we traced the route of the deceased, it was found that she wasn't alone on her scooty. A girl was with her at the time of the accident. She suffered injuries and fled from the spot but the deceased's legs got stuck in the car, after which she was dragged," Delhi Police added.

According to the police, the investigation into the case, which included route mapping, CCTV footage, and conversations with locals, revealed that another woman was on the scooty with Anjali at the time of the accident.

As per police, the other woman, who suffered minor injuries in the accident, left the scene to return home. Police have located the girl, and her statement will be recorded on Tuesday.

While the other woman on the scooty suffered minor injuries in the accident, Anjali's leg became stuck in the axle of the car, causing the accused driver to drag her for 13 kilometres. The car that hit her scooty dragged the 20-year-old girl for nearly 13 kilometres.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered a detailed investigation into the matter by IPS officer Shalini Singh, who is currently assigned as the Special Commissioner of the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

The Special Commissioner, along with a police team, inspected the crime scene at Krishan Vihar in Sultanpuri around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday night. Shalini Singh inspected four to five locations as well as the location where the girl's body was found.
