PTC News Desk: The Tamil Nadu president of the Bahujan Samaj Party was hacked to death by six bike-borne men near his home in Chennai on Friday in a brazen attack. According to the police, eight people have been detained in connection with the attack.

The six men attacked Armstrong while he was speaking with a few party officials near his home in the city's Sembium neighbourhood, and then fled. The family hurried him to the hospital, but he was declared dead.

According to police, this could be revenge murder in connection with the death of gangster Arcot Suresh last year.

A senior police official stated, "We are conducting an investigation. The murder appears to be related to a previous killing."

"We have identified eight suspects in the murder investigation so far. This is a preliminary investigation. We have organised ten teams. We are on the case to bring the criminals to justice. After interrogating these suspects, we will be able to determine the motive for the murder. Asra Garg, a senior Chennai police officer, stated, "Some sharp weapons were used."

According to certain reports, the attackers posed as food delivery agents, but authorities have yet to confirm this.

The Sembium Inspector of Police has been tasked with solving the case.

The opposition has slammed Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK, claiming that the death is evidence of the state's deteriorating law and order.

Edappadi Palaniswamy, the Leader of the Opposition, asked, "What do I say when the state chief of a national party is murdered? The law and order are terrible. There's no fear of the law or the cops."
