Interim Budget 2024: Government's initiative, promoting cervical cancer vaccination for girls
PTC News Desk: In the Budget 2024 presentation, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the government's initiative to encourage vaccination for girls aged 9 to 14 for the prevention of cervical cancer. The minister emphasised the consolidation of various schemes related to maternal and child care into a comprehensive program, aiming for more effective implementation.
The plans include the expedited upgrade of anganwadi centers under Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 to enhance nutrition delivery and early childhood care and development.
Sitharaman also addressed the aspirations of many youths to become doctors, outlining the government's plan to establish more medical colleges by leveraging existing hospital infrastructure across different departments. To address the pertinent issues and provide relevant recommendations, a committee will be formed for this purpose.
