Bhopal, August 18: Indore was marred by a devastating incident as a quarrel between pet dogs escalated into a fatal confrontation between their owners, resulting in the loss of two lives and injuries to six others. The harrowing episode unfolded on Thursday when Rajpal Singh Rajawat, employed as a bank security guard, fired shots at his neighbours from his balcony.

The catalyst for the tragic event was a dispute between Rajawat and his neighbour, Vimal Achala, both of whom were walking their dogs in a narrow lane within Krishna Bagh Colony around 11 pm. The animals engaged in a skirmish, sparking an argument between the men.

The altercation took a horrific turn when Rajawat retreated to his first-floor residence and employed a 12-bore rifle to shoot at Achala. Shockingly, a video capturing the incident shows Rajawat firing a warning shot into the air before directing his firearm towards the street below. The sound of gunshots is accompanied by the chilling backdrop of screams from the scene.

Tragically, Achala, a 35-year-old proprietor of a hair salon in the Nipania area of the city, lost his life in the confrontation. Alongside him, 27-year-old Rahul Verma, another neighbour, also succumbed to the violence. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where their demise was declared.

The tumultuous exchange also resulted in injuries to six additional individuals present at the scene during the altercation. Among them, two individuals suffered grave gunshot wounds, requiring medical attention and hospitalisation.

The legal aftermath of the incident has seen the arrest of Rajawat, who is now in custody along with his son Sudhir and another family member named Shubham. Authorities have filed a murder case against Rajawat, who, originally from Gwalior, secured employment as a security guard with a private firm in Indore due to his possession of a licensed 12-bore rifle.
