Bengaluru rains: IMD issues orange alert, schools colleges shut

PTC News Desk: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Bengaluru on October 21st. All the schools, colleges and anganwadi centres have been ordered to stay shut and IT companies have asked employees to work from home. Meanwhile few schools will function as per the schedule with classes being conducted virtually. The decision has been taken in the wake of the orange alert. 


In addition, the Met department also warned of temporary disruptions of electricity and minor traffic snarls as a result of the heavy rainfall in the districts.


Isolated rainfall could be expected in various parts of Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts. The latest IMD weather update reports that an upper cyclonic circulation is present over the southwest and west-central Bay of Bengal, near the northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts. It extends up to 5.8 km above sea level and tilts southwestward. Many part of North and South Karnataka may experience light to moderate rainfall, likely to have cloudy skies
