PTC News Desk: Ever thought eating momos can cost you your life, yes it can. You might think twice before eating momos next time from any street vendor. A woman died and 20 other people fall ill after eating momos served by a street vendor at different locations in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills.
The police have launched a probe intro the matter and registered a case over the same. After consuming momos from street vendor, Reshma Begum and her daughters, aged 12 and 14 started suffering from diarrhoea, stomach pain and vomiting. Reshma Begum died Sunday morning while her daughters are undergoing treatment.
Ram Babu, Sub-inspector of Banjara Hills Police Station says, "We received a complaint yesterday that Reshma Begum (33) died and 15 others suffered food poisoning after consuming memos (street food) from a single vendor at different locations. We have registered a case and are investigating the matter."
As per the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that the vendor was not complying with the food safety norms. It also found that the refrigerator door was broken. Samples from the food vendor have been sent for lab analysis. Following the police complaint registered by Reshma's family, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's food safety department and police nabbed the street vendor. Two people running the stall have been detained and a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder filed.
