PTC News Desk: Hindu and Sikh activists protested outside Canada's High Commission in New Delhi on Sunday, condemning the attack on a Hindu temple in Canada's Brampton by alleged pro-Khalistan mob.
Following calls for protests from several Hindu organisations, security was increased in front of the Canadian High Commission in Chanakyapuri, the diplomatic enclave. The Delhi Police deployed a huge number of personnel and built many layers of barricades in front of the Canadian embassy.
Several Hindu Sikh Global Forum activists heading to the High Commission attempted to climb over and collapse the police barricades. They carried placards that read 'Hindus and Sikhs are united' and 'Indians will not tolerate the insult of temples in Canada'.
The demonstrations come after a number of Khalistani supporters attacked devotees outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, Canada, during a consular camp on November 4. The incident drew significant criticism, including from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who condemned the "deliberate attack" and "cowardly attempts to intimidate" Indian diplomats.
Following the attack, massive demonstrations occurred outside the Brampton temple, and more rallies taking place in Mississauga.
