Himachal: Cloudburst in Paonta Sahib; 5 feared buried under debris
Authorities are concerned about additional missing individuals
Himachal cloudburst: A cloudburst struck Dadiyat village near Aauli in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday night, resulting in the disappearance of five individuals.
Authorities are concerned that more people might be missing. The individuals unaccounted for include Kuldeep and his family from Sirmouri Taal village, who are believed to be trapped beneath the debris. The others reported missing are Kuldeep's wife, Jeeto Devi (55), Rajni Devi (31), and her two children, Nitesh (10) and Deepika (8).
"DEOC Sirmour informed that an incident of Cloud Burst occurred at Village Malagi Dadiyat, Aauli, Tehsil Paonta Sahib, District Sirmaur due to this incident, 5 family members of Kuldeep Kamar are missing," State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) said in a bulletin.
"As per recent information received from DEOC Sirmour, 5 people Kuldeep and his family were buried under debris," it added.
SEOC further stated that a rescue operation is underway. "SDM Paonta Sahib, Tehsildar Paonta Sahib, Naib Tehsildar Paonta Sahib, VRO Ajuali, Police officials and HPPWD department officials are on the spot for handled this situation," an official statement said.
Ongoing efforts are focused on a rescue operation to locate the missing individuals. A team including Paonta Sahib SDM, tehsildar, naib tehsildar, police personnel, and PWD staff is present at the site to supervise and coordinate the rescue efforts.
