PTC News Desk: Amidst fluctuating temperatures, anticipation grows for the arrival of rain. Monsoon has already reached states like Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, but Delhi, the national capital, awaits its turn. The Meteorological Department forecasts that the Monsoon Express will likely reach Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana by June 29-30.

Delhi may experience the onset of monsoon this weekend, around June 29-30, later than its usual arrival date of June 27. Despite the delay, conditions remain favorable for its imminent arrival.

In addition, relief from heat and humidity is expected for Punjab and Haryana in the coming days. A warning of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms has been issued for these states from June 27 to 30. Today, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in some areas. The early morning rain in many parts of Punjab has already brought significant relief from the heat, with clouds providing additional respite.

Today's heavy rains have helped alleviate the scorching heat in various parts of Delhi. Images from news agency ANI show substantial rainfall in areas like Munirka and Sarita Vihar. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts more rain throughout the day.

"Light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speeds of 30-40 km/h are likely over Delhi and surrounding areas in the next two hours," stated the IMD in its latest update at 7:30 AM.

Monsoon is anticipated to arrive in Delhi by this week's end

By the end of this week, the monsoon might reach Delhi, according to a private forecasting agency's forecast on Wednesday.

Skymet Weather Services' Mahesh Palawat states, "The monsoon is expected to reach Delhi on June 29 or 30."

The exact time when the monsoon current is expected to reach the city, however, has not been disclosed by the IMD. Usually, the city is affected by the monsoon current between June 27 and June 29. It arrived on June 26 of the previous year, whereas June 30 of that year marked the start of the 2022 monsoon showers.
