Hathras stampede: Days after a stampede in Hathras killed 121 people, Bhole Baba has said that he was "deeply saddened" by the incident.

"May God give us the strength to bear this pain. Please have faith in the government and administration. I have faith that anyone who created the chaos will not be spared. Through my lawyer AP Singh, I have requested that the committee members stand with the bereaved families and the injured and assist them throughout their lives," the self-styled godman stated in a video statement.

Madhukar, the 'mukhya sevadar' of the 'satsang' where the stampede took place, is the only person named in an FIR filed at the Sikandra Rao police station in Hathras in connection with the incident.

A P Singh, Devprakash Madhukar's lawyer, said in a video message that his client had surrendered in Delhi while seeking treatment. He added that they would not apply for anticipatory bail since they had done no wrong.

"Today, we have surrendered Devprakash Madhukar, who was called the main organiser in the FIR in the Hathras case, after calling the police, the SIT and the STF in Delhi since he was undergoing treatment here," said Singh.

"We had promised that we wouldn't apply for anticipatory bail because we had done nothing wrong. What's our crime? He is an engineer and a heart patient. Doctors say his condition is currently stable, so we surrendered today to help with the investigation," the lawyer said.
