Haryana: Woman coach who accused Minister Sandeep Singh of harassment suspended
Haryana, August 15: The woman junior coach, who accused Haryana minister Sandeep Singh of harassment, has been suspended, according to sources.
The order for the suspension of the junior woman coach was issued by the Director of Sports Department, Yashendra Singh.
The junior coach, who participated in the Rio Olympics, was recruited in September through the government's outstanding sportspersons scheme. She accused the Haryana minister of harassment.
On the night of December 31, Chandigarh police registered a case against Minister Sandeep at the Sector 26 police station under Sections 354 (outraging a woman's modesty), 354A (making sexually coloured remarks), 354B (criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 342 (wrongful confinement), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
Later, Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code (a word, gesture, or act intended to insult a woman's modesty) was added to the FIR. Sandeep Singh's sports portfolio was divested on January 7 after the case was lodged.
