Gurpatwant Pannun issues warning against flying Air India from November 1-19
Citing the 40th anniversary of the anti-Sikh riots, Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun threatened to target Air India between November 1 and 9.
PTC News Desk: Pro-separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issued a warning on Monday, advising passengers not to fly on Air India flights from November 1 to 19. This latest Gurpatwant Singh Pannun threat mirrors a similar warning he made around the same time last year.
Pannun, the founder of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and a dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., claimed that the potential threat is linked to the "40th anniversary of the Sikh genocide," suggesting that an attack could target an Air India flight during this sensitive period. His warning has raised alarm, particularly as airlines in India have recently received multiple threat calls regarding potential bombings, which were later determined to be hoaxes.
Designated a terrorist by India's Ministry of Home Affairs since July 2020, Pannun has been accused of sedition and secessionism. He leads SFJ, a group advocating for the establishment of a separate Sikh state. His ongoing activities have drawn attention in light of recent tensions between India and Canada, especially following the controversial allegations surrounding the murder of Hardeep Nijjar, a prominent Khalistani figure.
In November 2023, Pannun released an Air India threat video, asserting that Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport would be renamed and would remain closed on November 19. He warned the public against travelling on Air India flights that day. In response, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged him with criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between different religious groups, and various offenses under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Previously, in December of last year, Pannun made a threat to attack the Indian Parliament on or before December 13, coinciding with the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on the Parliament. This ongoing pattern of threats and actions by Pannun underscores the escalating concerns surrounding Pro-separatist extremism and its implications for India-Canada relations..
