Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed condolences over the death of six people after a wall collapsed at a private company's construction site in Gujarat's Mehsana district.

Gujarat wall collapse: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed condolences over the death of six people after a wall collapsed at a private company's construction site in Gujarat's Mehsana district. According to the Prime Minister's Office, the PMNRF will grant an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs to the next of kin of each deceased person and Rs 50,000 to the injured. 

"The accident caused by the wall collapse in Mehsana, Gujarat is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this. May God give them the strength to bear this pain," the PMO said. "Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims," it added.

A wall collapsed at a private construction site near Jasalpur village in Kadi taluka of Gujarat's Mehsana district, killing six workers. Rescue efforts are currently underway to help those who are stuck in the earth, with ambulances on standby.

The incident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, according to the DDO office in Mehsana. The wall collapsed and the soil sank in, trapping around 9-10 workers.

"A 19-year-old boy has been rescued alive, and according to his account, 8-9 people were working here. Around 2-3 people are still stuck. We pray to God that we can save them alive," District Development Officer (DDO) of Mehsana said.
