Gujarat: Six killed as bus overturns after hitting railing; driver was making reel while driving

A passenger alleged that the driver was making a social media reel on his cellphone while driving up the steep ghat road, resulting in the accident

PTC Web Desk: Six passengers were killed and more than 35 were injured when the bus they were travelling in overturned near the renowned pilgrimage site of Ambaji Monday morning. Among the injured, the condition of five-six persons remains critical. There were more than 50 passengers on board when the accident took place.

As per information, the accident took place at Trishuliya Ghat near Ambaji. A passenger alleged that the driver was making a social media reel on his cellphone while driving up the steep ghat road, resulting in the accident. Despite being cautioned by the passengers, he continued to focus on making the reel. The accident occurred near the Hanuman temple on the ghat when the bus hit the railings and overturned. The driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.


Some passengers claimed that the driver appeared to be intoxicated. They urged the police to arrest him at the earliest and conduct his medical examination. A case has been registered against the driver, and efforts are underway to locate him.

The bus was carrying pilgrims returning to Danta town after visiting the Ambaji temple. Most of the victims were residents of Kathlal village in Kheda district. Upon receiving news of the accident, locals from nearby villages rushed to assist the injured. Many used their private vehicles to transport the injured to hospitals.
