Fog fallout: Biting cold gripped several places of Northern and North-eastern parts of the country especially in Punjab, Chandigarh and nearby areas of Punjab as temperature dropped to 6 to 8 degrees Celsius today.

The distressing mishap unfolded at around 6 am on Wednesday morning when the bus carrying the personnel of the Punjab Armed Police was coming from Jalandhar collided with a trailer on the side of the road. The tragic collision resulted in life of an assistant sub-inspector and a woman officer among the deceased.
According to the police personnel on board, there were over 40 employees present on the bus during the accident. Out of the 20 or more individuals injured.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for very dense fog and coldwave conditions in Delhi on Wednesday and Thursday. Additionally, a red alert was issued for Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday, with an orange alert for both states on Thursday. The adverse weather conditions are expected to impact commuting.
