Flood havoc in Maharashtra: Eknath Shinde to visit affected areas in Pune

Twelve people are stuck in Malegaon, Nashik, as a result of the Girna River's rising water level. Teams that respond to disasters are attempting to save them.

PTC News Desk: Following a lot of rain, Pune and Nashik are among the Maharashtra regions that are experiencing flooding. Twelve people are stuck in Malegaon, Nashik, as a result of the Girna River's rising water level. Teams from the fire department and NDRF disaster response are on the scene, getting ready to save individuals who are stuck.

In the last 48 hours, 250 mm of rain have fallen in Nashik. The Gangapur dam, which was 86% full, had to discharge water Friday night. A 29-year-old man has vanished following the Godavari's surge in levels. Residents have been notified by the local authorities of the removal of many shops located on the riverbank.


Pune residents have evacuated many homes after flooding in areas like Ekta Nagar. In order to help with the rescue efforts in the impacted areas, the Army has also been called upon. Today, Pune's flooded districts will be visited by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He will visit the Singhad Road neighborhood and talk to locals.

A traffic crash occurred in the Palghar district due to heavy rain. According to the local authorities, poor visibility caused four speeding motorcycles to crash, injuring seven people—four of them seriously.

More rain is predicted in Pune, Nashik, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Satara, and Ratnagiri, according to weather department advisories.


This year, the monsoon has wreaked havoc throughout a number of the nation's regions. In Wayanad, Kerala, landslides have claimed the lives of over 300 people. In Himachal Pradesh, flash floods have claimed 13 lives and left numerous others unaccounted for.

A cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir farther north has caused the national route connecting Srinagar and Leh to close, severing the connection between Ladakh and Kashmir Valley. Five individuals have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh, while six districts are still impacted by floods.
