‘Flash flood’ alert in Bihar, river water levels on rise

The Bihar Water Resources Department has issued a flood alert for areas near the swollen Kosi and Gandak rivers. Officials added that continuous rainfall over the last two to three days has caused water levels in several rivers across the state to rise.
According to an IMD advisory issued on Friday, heavy rain is predicted in the districts of West and East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Patna, Jehanabad, Madhubani, and Bhojpur.
The weather authority also predicted heavy rain for Saturday in Saurashtra and Kutch, Gujarat, East Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar.
Meanwhile, in UP, the Saryu River's water level has risen due to constant rainfall.
"The water level has been rising at a pace of 3 centimetres every hour since this morning. It continues to rise as a result of the obstinate rain," Aman Rai Singh, an office assistant at the Central Water Commission in Ayodhya, stated.
