Five doctors killed, 1 critically hurt as SUV crashes into truck on Agra-Lucknow Expressway
Preliminary investigations suggest the driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the tragic accident
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, five doctors were killed while one was critically injured when their Scorpio SUV collided with a truck early this morning. The victims, postgraduate trainees at the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai, were traveling back from a wedding function in Lucknow when the accident took place.
The accident occurred around 3.30 am when the SUV lost control, broke through the median, and crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the tragic accident. The impact of the collision left the vehicle mangled. Emergency services rushed the victims to the hospital, where five doctors were declared dead. The sixth occupant, who suffered severe head injuries, is undergoing treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Dr Aniruddh Verma, Dr Santosh Kumar Maurya, Dr Jaiveer Singh, Dr Arun Kumar, and Dr Nardev. Priyanka Bajpai, circle officer of Tirwa, said," At around 3:30 am, a Scorpio SUV traveling from Lucknow toward Agra lost control, broke through the divider, and collided with an oncoming truck. Five occupants, all associated with the Saifai hospital, have died, and one is under treatment. The families of the victims have been informed, and further investigations are underway."
