PTC News Desk: The eyewitness have recounted the Jhansi hospital ordeal that claimed lives of 10 newborn babies and describe the incident as nurse's alleged negligence. Short circuit is believed to be the reason of the short circuit, it is being said that nurse's carelessness lead to the tragedy. However, a clearer picture will emerge of what led to the fire at Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College after a probe report is submitted to the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday evening.

One of the eyewitness present there said that, he was present in the ward at the time of the incident and nurse while trying to connect the pipe of oxygen cylinder lit a matchstick and the ward being an oxygen-rich environment, quickly became a tinderbox. Oxygen is highly inflammable, and it caused the entire ward to erupt in flames almost instantly.

"According to the staff present in the ward, the fire broke out at about 10.35 p.m. Thirty-seven children have been successfully rescued. The fire started in one of the children's ward's two units, most likely due to a short circuit. The children in the NICU's outer area were rescued, as were some of those on the inside. We've set up a committee to investigate the cause of the fire. While the majority of the children were saved, 10 children died in the accident," Avinash Kumar, Jhansi district magistrate.
