PTC News Desk: A 19-year-old Delhi University student, Aishwarya Pandey, tragically died in a car crash near Rajghat, Delhi, on Thursday night. Pandey, who had just celebrated his birthday, was returning from a party in Gurugram with four friends when their car, a Hyundai Venue, collided with a guardrail. The crash resulted in severe injuries for all five passengers. Pandey, a first-year BA student at Deshbandhu College, was rushed to LNJP Hospital, where he was placed on life support. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later that night.

According to initial reports, the students were under the influence of alcohol. Pandey, who had rented the car for his birthday celebration, handed over the driving responsibilities to his friend, Aishwarya Mishra, on the way back to Delhi. Pandey, sitting behind the driver, sustained the most critical injuries when the guardrail pierced through the vehicle.

Pandey was a resident of Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, and lived in a hostel in East Delhi's Laxmi Nagar. Tragically, both his parents had already passed away—his father due to illness and his mother in a road accident. A relative shared, "He lost his father, who worked for a private company, and his mother, a teacher, died in a road accident."

Mishra, who also hails from Etawah, suffered critical injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Delhi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi) MK Meena confirmed that a case has been registered under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
