Delhi Rains: National capital wakes up to intense downpour; commuters face waterlogging and traffic snarls

IMD predicts a cloudy sky with light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at speeds of 25 to 35 kmph till July 17

Delhi Rains:  On Monday morning, Delhi woke up to intense downpour resulting in significant waterlogging and severe traffic congestion in various parts of the city. This weather event disrupted daily life for many residents and posed challenges for commuters.

The rain, however, brought further respite from the heat and humidity.

Visuals from North Avenue in Delhi showed rain drizzling. Meanwhile, waterlogging was reported at Civil Lines.

Janpath in the national capital also witnessed rain.


The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated rainfall in Delhi throughout Monday, with cloudy skies and light thunderstorms expected in both Delhi and Noida.

In the national capital, the IMD predicts a cloudy sky with light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at speeds of 25 to 35 kmph till July 17. 

The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 36 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of about 28 degrees Celsius.
