Delhi man accused of week-long torture, including pouring 'hot dal' on woman: Cops
PTC News Desk: A 28-year-old man from Delhi is under scrutiny for allegedly raping and subjecting a woman from Darjeeling, West Bengal, to a week of brutal torture. The victim, who sustained over 20 injuries, was reportedly even scalded with "hot dal" by the accused.
The accused, identified as Paras, has been apprehended and charged with rape, sodomy, and causing harm in connection with the incident. The victim, admitted to the hospital with visible injury marks, has since been discharged.
According to police reports, the woman had been staying with Paras in a rented accommodation in Neb Sarai, south Delhi, for approximately a month. Their acquaintance, which had developed over 3-4 months, took a horrific turn when the woman was subjected to a violent assault. Prompted by a distress call on January 30, the Neb Sarai police intervened, rescuing the woman and swiftly transporting her to AIIMS for medical treatment. Paras was subsequently arrested on February 2.
The victim's statement revealed that she had intended to travel to Bengaluru for employment but halted her journey in Delhi to meet Paras, who had offered assistance. However, her stay turned into a nightmare as she endured physical assaults and sexual abuse at his hands for a week. A senior police officer disclosed that the victim, originally from Darjeeling, had initially come into contact with the accused over the phone. The prolonged ordeal culminated in Paras allegedly scorching her with hot lentils, causing severe burn injuries.
