Dehradun accident: From party to torn sunroof, night out turns fatal for six students, no legal discourse yet

PTC News Desk: Six people were killed and another critically injured in the severe car accident in Dehradun. The accident took place when a speeding Innova car crashed into a container truck. According to Circle Officer (City) Neeraj Semwal, the six deceased-three men and three women, all under 25 years of age, died on the spot, however a seventh passenger survived but is in a critical state undergoing treatment.
According to the preliminary investigation, police suggests that truck was not at fault and speeding car is the cause of the accident. The collision occurred when the MUV, moving at high speed, struck the truck's left rear side, which is a known blind spot on large vehicles.
Inspector KC Bhatt from the Cantt police station said that family member of the deceased students have not filed any complaint yet and since the driver who owned the vehicle did not survive, a case cannot be register posthumously. The police are consulting with legal experts to explore possible actions in the case.
The sole survivor of the accident who is identified as Siddhwesh Agrawal is in a critical condition but stable however due to severe head injury, he is unable to recount details of the accident and may take some time before he provides any statement
Five of the victims were from Dehradun, while one hailed from Chamba. The group had reportedly gone for a late-night drive before the tragic accident.
