The cyclone will reach wind speeds of up to 90 kmph. The region is expected to see weather changes, such as high tides and severe rainfall.
Ananda Das, IMD's head of cyclonic division, stated that a red alert has been issued due to heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in many parts of Tamil Nadu, south Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and interior Karnataka.

On Saturday, all schools and educational institutions in Puducherry and other Tamil Nadu districts, including Kanchipuram, will remain closed.
Puducherry fisheries department has issued an advisory to fishermen, urging them not to enter the water as Cyclone Fengal approaches. The alert also advised fishermen to relocate their boats and equipment to higher ground to avoid damage.
The impacted areas are Kamashwaram, Virundhamavadi, Pudupalli, Vedrappu, Vanamadevi, Vallapallam, Kallimedu, Eeravayal, and Chemboadi.

As of now, 471 persons from 164 homes have been relocated in six relief camps across Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts.
On Thursday, the Indian Navy launched a comprehensive disaster response plan as Cyclone Fengal intensified in the Bay of Bengal.
