Cyclone Biparjoy: Severe storm to enter Rajasthan today, says IMD

Cyclone Biparjoy Landfall in Rajasthan: After leaving a major destruction in Gujarat, Cyclone Biparjoy also classified as a 'very severe' cyclonic storm is expected to weaken into a depression as it moves towards Rajasthan.
The IMD has issued warnings of extremely heavy rainfall in Rajasthan on June 16 and 17 as the cyclone progresses northwestward. They have also cautioned about potential damage to temporary structures, falling trees and branches, and high tides due to the cyclone's impact.

Meanwhile, IMD said that, "Biparjoy has now weakened. It is in the category of 'Cyclonic Storm'. It is now centered 30 kilometers west-northwest of Bhuj."
"Biparjoy is moving in an East Northeast direction at a wind speed of 80-90 kilometers per hour (kmph) as of 8:30 am," he said. "By evening, it will weaken to a 'Deep Depression' with wind speed of 50-60 kmph or even 70 kmph," he added.
The severe storm landfall in Rajasthan is likely to bring extremely heavy rainfall in various regions of Rajasthan.
IMD also stated that, cyclonic storm with the wind speed of 60 kmph will reach Rajasthan and will bring heavy rainfall in various regions.
Meanwhile, Biparjoy created havoc in Gujarat's Morbi district, damaging over 300 electric poles, leading to power outage in around 45 villages.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also had a telephonic conversation with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and took stock of the situation after the cyclonic storm 'Biparjoy' made landfall in Gujarat's coastal areas.
