Covid-19 surge: India records 5,335 new cases in 24 hours
Daily Covid-19 cases have crossed the 5,000 mark for the first time since September 23 last year.
Coronavirus spike: India on Thursday recorded a sudden spike of 5,335 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours. This is the biggest single-day jump in the last five months; as per to the data, it has spiked by 20 per cent more than yesterday. The daily cases according to Union health ministry data have crossed the mark of 5,000 for the first time since September 23 last year.
This is the biggest single day spike, according to Union health ministry data the number of active cases increased to 25,587. There are total of 4,777 cases which were recorded last year in September. The national recovery rate of Covid-19 was recorded at 98.75 per cent. In the last 24 hours, around 2,826 patients recovered, while the total recoveries increased to 4,41,82,538.

The total daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.32 percent according to data and the weekly positivity rate at 2.89 per cent. The ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
