PTC News Desk: Terrorists shot at a police officer in Srinagar's Eidgah area on Sunday. According to police, he was taken to a hospital and the area was cordoned off in order to track down the attackers.

This comes just days after the largest ceasefire violation along the international border earlier this week, following the February 2021 ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan. On Thursday, a Border Security Force (BSF) member was injured in unprovoked firing and mortar shelling in the Arnia sector of the border. After mortar shells hit residential areas, dozens of villagers fled.

On Wednesday, top Jammu and Kashmir officials and security agencies met at the 15 Corps headquarters in Srinagar.

One of the main topics of discussion at the meeting was the role of foreign terrorists in Kashmir.

According to official figures, 37 of the 46 terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir this year were Pakistanis, with only nine being locals. This is the first time in the Union Territory's 33-year history that the number of foreign terrorists killed has been four times that of local terrorists.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, around 130 terrorists are currently operating in the Valley, with half of them being foreign terrorists.
