PTC News Desk: Ahead of Jharkhand assembly polls, Congress leader and minister Irfan Ansari has drawn attention but for the wrong reasons. He is under the spotlight for derogatory remarks against the BJP leader Sita Soren.

The remarks were made reportedly after filling nomination for Jamtara constituency. While recounting the incident, Sita Soren had a tearful moment and broke down. "Mr. Ansari has been targeting me ever since my candidacy for this seat was announced. However, the derogatory remarks he made after filing his nomination are unacceptable and an affront to the women of the tribal community. The tribal community will not forgive him for this," she stated, her voice trembling.

Sita Soren is the wife of JMM chief Shibhu Soren's eldest son late Durga Soren, and later joined BJP following a rift with the family after Hemnad Soren took ver party's leadership. This fallout occurred following Hemant Soren, Shibu Soren's younger son, resigning from the post and subsequently being jailed in a money laundering case.

Ansari's remarks has sparked outrage among BJP with saffron party criticising the remarks and demanding stricter action as well. Meanwhile mahila Congress chief Alka Lamba has also condemned the remarks emphasising that such comments have no place in political discourse

Following the incident, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST)  issued a notice to the Jharkhand government seeking a report within three days.
