PTC Web Desk: As part of the initiative to transform Chandigarh Railway Station into a world-class facility, the railway board has issued a schedule for the temporary closure of platforms due to ongoing renovation work. Construction on platforms 3 and 4 has commenced and will continue until October 24. Following this, work will shift to platforms 1 and 2, along with line number 3, from October 25 to October 27.

Due to the construction activities at Chandigarh Railway Station, several trains will not arrive at the station until October 27. In light of the festival season, officials have designated temporary stops at Ghaggar and Mohali railway stations for various trains. This measure aims to minimise inconvenience for passengers during this busy travel period.

Affected trains Until October 27

Key trains departing from Chandigarh, including the Chandigarh-Ferozepur (14629-30), Chandigarh-Amritsar, Chandigarh-Ramnagar (14631-32), Dehradun-Amritsar (18101-02), and Jammu-Tawi-Tatanagar (18309-10), will not be stopping at Chandigarh Railway Station until October 27. Instead, these trains will have a temporary stop at Mohali Railway Station.

In conjunction with the construction of an overbridge connecting Chandigarh and Panchkula, the Ambala division has announced platform changes for 56 trains. During the ongoing work on platforms 3 and 4, trains will be redirected to platforms 1, 2, 5, and 6. Between October 25 and 27, as work continues on platforms 1, 2, and line number 3, these trains will also depart from alternative platforms.

According to Mandeep Singh Bhatia, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ambala Division, the renovation of platforms is progressing rapidly as part of the world-class railway station initiative. While the temporary closure of platforms may cause some inconvenience for passengers, all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that train services remain unaffected.

Additionally, several important trains, including the Vande Bharat Express (22447-48) and the Chandigarh-Lucknow train (14217-18), will make temporary stops at Ghaggar Railway Station from October 21 to October 27.
