Covid-19 scare in India: Four states detects new Omicron sub-variant

Gujarat, December 22: Amid the fresh global surge of Covid-19 cases all around the world, the central government ordered all the stated to conduct genome sequencing of samples. 

Keeping in view the increase in Covid cases, Chief Secretary of Health, Manoj Agarwal said the central government briefed all states to ensure proper screening international passengers, as well as genome sequencing.

Meanwhile, the central government briefed all states on the increasing trend of Covid-19 variants in parts of the world and asked them to ensure that whole genome sequencing is done in all states.    

Notably, there has been spike and alarming situation of Covid cases in China, Japan, South Korea, France and the United States.

Four states of India also detected new Omicron sub-variant BF.7.    


Keeping in view the Covid scare all across the nation, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a high-level meeting to review the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the country and the preparedness of the public health system for surveillance, containment and management of the pandemic.   

He urged people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour and get vaccinated against Covid-19.

He asked the officials to tighten seat belts and gear up for the challenge to face Covid-19 and step up surveillance.

Notably, India reported four cases of the BF.7 Omicron sub-variant and there has been Covid-19 scare all across the India.
