PTC News Desk: People panicked in Hyderabad's Venkatadri Nagar area near the Jeedimetla Industrial Estate as a red liquid resembling blood flooded the streets.
The liquid flowing out of a manhole alarmed the residents. The foul stench and difficulty breathing scared them even more.
Alarmed, the residents approached the municipal officials and breathed a sigh of relief when they learnt that the flowing, nauseating liquid was not blood.
The officials informed the residents that it was a red chemical that had reportedly been released from nearby factories.
Venkatadri Nagar in Subhash Nagar division is close to the industrial zone.
According to the owners of certain warehouses in the region, just a few industrial units discharge chemicals directly into the drainage system. They stated that the municipal officials were not taking any action.
As the manhole overflowed, red liquid inundated the streets, sparking fear. Residents were concerned about the effects of the chemical discharge on their health and wanted fast action.
Officials from the Telangana Pollution Control Board visited the area to assess the situation and assured people that actions would be taken to prevent chemical discharge from industries.
