'Manipur to Mumbai': Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Nyay Yatra from Jan 14
Bharat Nyay Yatra: Rahul Gandhi, following the precedent set by his previous Bharat Jodo Yatra, is set to initiate a comparable outreach campaign, this time commencing from the northeastern state of Manipur. The yatra, scheduled to begin on January 14, will conclude in Mumbai by March 20, as affirmed by Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal during a Wednesday announcement.
Venugopal conveyed that the Congress Working Committee, on December 21, unanimously proposed that Rahul Gandhi should embark on a journey spanning East to West. In accordance with this recommendation, Rahul Gandhi consented to fulfill the CWC's aspirations, leading to the decision by the All India Congress Committee to launch the 'Bharat Nyay Yatra' from January 14 to March 20, spanning from Manipur to Mumbai.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi conducted this 65-day yatra is anticipated to cover a substantial distance of 6,200 kilometers, traversing through 14 states and 85 districts, including Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. In contrast to the Bharat Jodo Yatra, this forthcoming outreach program will adopt a bus as the primary mode of transport. Venugopal emphasized that a bus journey maximises accessibility for people along the way, though the yatra will also involve occasional short foot marches.
The commencement of this extensive journey on January 14 in Manipur will be flagged off by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. Buses will serve as the main mode of transportation for the Bharat Nyay Yatra, designed to facilitate widespread access to the public, interspersed with intermittent short walks during the course of the march.
