'If Delhi does not get its water share by 21st...': Atishi threatens indefinite fast amid Delhi water crisis
Amid a political tug-of-war over the national capital's water crisis, Aam Aadmi Party Minister Atishi warned on Wednesday that if Delhi doesn't get its fair share of water by June 21, she will be obliged to hold a 'Satyagraha'.

"Today, I wrote to the Prime Minister, informing him that 28 lakh people in Delhi do not have access to water. I have asked him to help give water as quickly as possible...If the people of Delhi do not receive their fair share of water by the 21st, I will be forced to stage a Satyagraha," Atishi stated at a press conference.
"Due to the sweltering heat, the water crisis in Delhi has worsened. Today, Delhiites require more water. The total water supply in Delhi is 1050 MGD, of which 613 MGD comes from Haryana, however, Haryana does not provide the full amount of water to Delhi," she claimed.
The Delhi Minister further stated that due to a lack of water released from Haryana, 28 lakh residents in Delhi are getting less water.
"Haryana gave only 513 MGD of water to Delhi yesterday. As a result, Delhi is currently short of 100 MGD of water today. Because of this, around 28 lakh people are receiving less water. The people of Delhi are troubled. We have made every effort to resolve this issue. We spoke with the Chief Minister of Haryana, but the BJP government in Haryana is not providing Delhi with its fair share of water," Atishi said.
Earlier on June 18, a high-level delegation of Delhi government officials met with the Haryana government's Principal Secretary (Water Resources) to resolve the severe water deficit in the national capital. The Delhi government requested that Haryana release additional water to Delhi.
This meeting was held in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
For three days, the BJP has been holding protests in various sections of the National Capital against the water problem.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and former MP Ramesh Bidhuri were seen leading a demonstration against the Aam Aadmi Party over the water deficit.
