PTC News Desk: AAP leader Atishi officially took charge as the Chief Minister of Delhi on Monday. However, in a grand gesture for ex-CM Arvind Kejriwal, she placed an empty chair next to hers. She stated that the vacant chair will remain in her office until the February 2025 elections when the AAP head will become Delhi’s CM again.

"The chair belongs to Arvind Kejriwal. I am confident that the people of Delhi will reinstate him after four months," she stated.

Atishi made a symbolic comparison to the Hindu epic Ramayana, saying, "My situation is like that of Bharat, when Lord Shri Rama went into exile, and Bharat had to govern in his absence." Atishi vowed to run the government for the next four months until the elections, just like "Bharat ruled with Lord Ram's 'khadaun' (sandals) on the throne".

Kejriwal resigned on September 17, days after being released on bail after six months in connection with alleged Delhi excise policy scam.
