AP Dhillon to perform in Chandigarh on Saturday; security up as huge turnout anticipated

PTC Web Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has reportedly issued an alert regarding potential threats to Punjabi artistes, leading to heightened security measures ahead of renowned Punjabi singer and rapper AP Dhillon's upcoming show in Chandigarh, as per sources The concert, scheduled for Saturday at the Sector 25 Rally Ground, will see the deployment of 2,000 security personnel.

The NIA has reportedly provided intelligence to the Punjab Police, warning of possible attacks on Punjabi artistes. In response, the security around AP Dhillon's performance has been reinforced. The Punjab Police have shared this information with the Chandigarh Police, prompting an increase in security despite the event being held on the outskirts of the city. The number of security personnel deployed will be similar to those assigned for a concert by another major artist, Diljit Dosanjh.

To ensure safety, a designated parking area will be set up three to four km away from the venue, with shuttle buses providing transportation. Additionally, four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and six  Inspectors will be stationed to oversee security operations. On Friday, a postal team also conducted a security inspection of the event site.

Metal detectors will be installed at all entry points to the rally ground, and plainclothes officers will be deployed to monitor suspicious activity. Security has reportedly been tightened around Homeland Society in Mohali, which houses a large number of Punjabi artistes.
