PTC News Desk: A doctor and his four family members were found dead in their Vijayawada home on Wednesday, police said. Officials said the doctor was struggling financially.

While four were found with slash injuries, one was hung to death, according to Vijayawada East Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Adhiraj Singh Rana. They found the bodies on Tuesday morning and suspect the crime occurred on Monday night.

D Srinivas (40) was found hanging, while his wife D Usha Rani (38), two minor children (a boy and a girl), and mother D Ramanamma (70) had their jugular veins slashed, according to police.

Police are investigating whether Srinivas, an orthopedician, murdered the four before killing self.

"He was having financial difficulties, which we are verifying. "He just sold his hospital," Rana said. According to the DCP, police are also investigating Srinivas' financial issues.

Coincidentally, on Monday night, the doctor handed over his car keys to a neighbour, asking him to give them to his brother. He informed the neighbour that all five of them were going out.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the case, having filed a murder case under IPC Section 302 and a suicide case under CrPC Section 174.
