Anantnag encounter: Missing soldier martyred during operation in Jammu and Kashmir
Anantnag Encounter: A soldier who was reported missing since yesterday have been martyred during an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag district.
As per the official statement by security officials, "One more soldier has lost his life in the Anantnag operations. He had been reported missing since yesterday."
"In joint security operations against terrorists in the Anantnag area, forces dropped grenades on suspected terrorist hide-out locations using drones. Grenade launchers are also being used by troops to target the group of terrorists hiding in the area," they added.
The relentless encounter spanned for more than 48 hours and tragically three brave officers, including two from the army and one from the police force, lost their lives in the line of duty on that fateful day. The slain senior Army officers and the DSP were identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and Humayun Bhat.
Operation to locate terrorist
The ongoing gunfight between a combined team of security personnel from the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police and terrorists in the Kokernag area of the Anantnag district entered the third straight day, with drones and quadcopters being pressed into service on Friday to locate and neutralise the gunmen.
According to officials, the security personnel involved in the operation, which broke out on Wednesday, were being assisted by quadcopters and drones in the ongoing efforts to locate the terrorists.
