Anantnag encounter: Local militant Uzair Khan and 2 LeT insurgents implicated in Army Officers and DSP killings, confirms police
Srinagar, September 14: The police announced on Thursday that operations have resumed in Hallpora village of the Gadool area in Kokernag, south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
In a solemn tribute to the unyielding valor of Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and DSP Humayun Bhat, who sacrificed their lives leading from the front during this ongoing operation, the police stated, "Our forces continue with unwavering determination as they encircle 2 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, including Uzair Khan."
Khan is a local LeT militant hailing from Nagam village in Kokernag, who joined the ranks of militants in June 2022.
Sources indicate that Khan was accompanied by another militant. Security forces have been conducting searches in the area for the past four weeks based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militants.
On Wednesday, a fierce gunfight in the Gadool area resulted in the deaths of an army Colonel, Major, and a DSP of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The operation was temporarily suspended due to darkness, but additional troops have been deployed to the area to confront the militants in hiding.
