Amit Shah advocates 'zero terror plan' for Jammu in marathon 6-hour meeting

PTC News Desk: Following a slew of terrorist assaults, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level review conference in New Delhi on Sunday to evaluate the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The home minister ordered security services to duplicate the effective "area domination plan" and "zero terror plan," which had been previously implemented in the Kashmir Valley, in the Jammu division during the six-hour long meeting.
A thorough briefing on the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir was delivered to the home minister. Shah gave orders to all security services to operate in mission mode and guarantee prompt, well-coordinated responses. According to him, the current events demonstrate that terrorism has been forced to downsize from carefully coordinated acts of violent terrorism to a simple stand-in.
According to PTI, which cited persons with knowledge of the situation, security personnel in the area are anticipated to step up counterterrorism operations in the upcoming days.

In attendance at the high-profile meeting, which was facilitated by Shah, were Ajit Doval, the National Security Adviser, Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Pande, the Army Chief, Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, the Union Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla, Tapan Deka, the Director of Intelligence Bureau, Anish Dayal Singh, the DG of the BSF, Nitin Agarwal, R R Swain, and other top security officials.
Three days prior, at North Block, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had convened a comparable high-level gathering. After a string of terror occurrences, including a deadly attack on a pilgrimage bus, the prime minister directed officials to use the "full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities".
During the course of four days last week, terrorists attacked four locations in the districts of Reasi, Kathua, and Doda. They caused the deaths of nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan, as well as the injuries of seven security officers and numerous civilians. Two alleged Pakistani militants were slain in a confrontation with security personnel in the Kathua district.
Terrorists fired shots at a 53-seater bus that was transporting pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra on June 9. Nine people were killed and 41 injured when the bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi fell into a steep gorge as a result of the firing.
Terrorists opened fire on a Rashtriya Rifles and police joint checkpost at Chattergalla in Bhaderwah on June 11, then on June 12, they attacked a search party in the Gandoh area of Doda district, injuring seven security personnel, including a policeman.
These attacks have happened right before the yearly pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter-high Amarnath temple in the Himalayas of south Kashmir, which is scheduled to start on June 29 and last until August 19. This year, each pilgrim to Amarnath will receive an RFID card for real-time tracking, as well as Rs 5 lakh in insurance coverage for themselves and Rs 50,000 for any animals they bring with them.
