PTC News Desk: The Air Quality Index in national capital has slightly improved with being persistently in "very poor category" for four days, it has now fallen into "poor" category due to favourable wind speed. However the risks pertaining to pollution still loom large in Delhi.

A senior India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist said, “Strong wind of 5 to 10 knots on Friday morning helped disperse the pollutants.”

Authorities have however warned that with Diwali approaching, air quality can also deteriorates. Delhi's weather is also experiencing shifts in the weather from dawn to dusk. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that temperature is expected to dip on October 30-31

In spite of improving air quality, the fluctuating weather combined with pollution poses great threat to the health og the residents. As smog blankets several parts of the city, people are facing respiratory issues. Hospitals have reported an increase in patients complaining of respiratory illness. To mitigate pollution, Delhi authorities have implemented stage two of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), resulting in some initial relief, especially in areas like Anand Vihar, where AQI dropped to 246 from levels often recorded between 300 and 400 recently.
