Aide and household assistant of Jharkhand minister arrested following recovery of Rs 34.23 crore cash

On Tuesday, the Enforcement Directorate apprehended Sanjiv Lal, the personal secretary of Jharkhand Minister Alamgir Alam, along with his household assistant. This action followed the discovery of "unexplained funds" amounting to approximately Rs 34.23 crore.

PTC News Desk: In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) took action on Tuesday by apprehending Sanjiv Lal, the personal secretary of Jharkhand Minister Alamgir Alam, along with Lal's house help, subsequent to the recovery of a substantial sum of "unaccounted cash" amounting to Rs 34.23 crore.

Following a thorough investigation, the ED made the arrests under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), after an overnight interrogation session. The raid leading to this substantial seizure occurred on Monday, prompting swift action from the enforcement agency.

Alamgir Alam, a prominent figure in Jharkhand politics, serves as the Rural Development Minister and represents the Congress party. Despite these startling developments, the 70-year-old minister vehemently denies any involvement in unlawful activities.
