Aaftab said he strangulated her with his own hands: Shraddha's father breaks down in court
Shraddha murder case: Shraddha Walkar's father, Vikas Madan Walkar, broke down during a deposition in a Delhi court on Monday. He also identified the accused in court.
He also claimed that at the Mehrauli police station, accused Aftab Amin Poonawala confessed to strangling the victim with his own hand.
On May 18, 2022, Shraddha Walkar was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawala. Following the murder, the accused severed the body into 35 pieces and dumped them into the jungle to destroy the evidence. Some of the parts were later recovered.
Manisha Khurana Kakkar, an Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ), took the statements of seven witnesses in Shraddha's murder case. Vikas Walkar was unable to complete it on Monday because he got emotional during deposing. His statement has been postponed until August 5.
A refrigerator was also presented to the court on Monday. The accused allegedly used the refrigerator to stuff the victim's dead body.
Vikas Walkar testified in court about the accused's statement that after killing Sharadha, he bought two saws, cut off the victim's wrist, and placed it in a trash bag.
Vikas Walkar stated in his statement that he was summoned by the police and went to the Mehrauli police station on November 11, 2022, where he identified Aftab Amin Poonawala as he had come to his house.
He also told the cops that he recognized the accused since he had visited his home and had been living with his daughter for the past three years. He used to argue with and abuse his daughter, according to Walkar.
Shraddha's father told the court that Aftab informed him that his daughter was no more.
After hearing this, Vikas Walkar started feeling dizzy and shocked. When he recovered, the accused told him that on May 18, 2022, he had an argument with Shraddha at their Chattarpur apartment in Delhi and strangled her.
He also informed the court that Aftab and Shradhha paid him a visit in Mumbai after his wife died in January 2020.
He also testified in court that his family was opposed to Shraddha's decision to continue living with Aftab in 2019. She paid little attention and stated that his father can assume she ceased to be his daughter anymore.
