According to officials, the car had nine individuals, including eight members of the family. They were on their way to the Baba Rajpuri Mela on the occasion of Dussehra.
Taking to social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the accident as heart-rendering and conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims.
He stated that the local administration was making every effort to assist under the state government's supervision.
According to officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which plunged into a canal near Mundri village.
They say the driver was saved, but the other seven people in the vehicle drowned. Komal, a 12-year-old girl, has gone missing, and police are looking for her.
The deceased have been identified as Satwinder (50), Chameli (65), Teejo (45), Fiza (16), Vandana (10), Riya (10) and Ramandeep (6).
