7 of family die after short circuit causes massive fire in Mumbai

A short circuit allegedly triggered a fire in a two-storey building in Mumbai on Sunday, killing at least seven members of a family. The deceased includes two children.

PTC News Desk: A short circuit allegedly triggered a fire in a two-storey building in Mumbai on Sunday, killing at least seven members of a family. The deceased includes two children.

The incident occurred at around 5 a.m. at Chembur's Sidharth Colony.

The fire began in a shop on the first floor that sold electrical items and spread to the upper storey, where the family lived, officials said.

The victims were identified as Paris Gupta, 7, Narendra Gupta, 10, Manju Prem Gupta, 30, Anita Gupta, 39, Prem Gupta, 30, Vidhi Gupta, and Geeta Gupta.

They were rushed to the hospital but later declared dead.
